All children are entitled to equal educational opportunities in Australia, regardless of gender and sexuality. However, many students continue to be marginalized and face inequitable opportunities in schools resulting in disparate achievement.
The Impact of difference and intercultural understanding on teaching and learning
This assessment task covers investigates social theory in relation to diversity and the impacts on teaching and learning for the subject Diversity, Social Justice and Learning 102083 co-ordinated by Dr Erika Smith and Loshni Naidoo at Western Sydney University. The object of the essay involved researching social theory around a marginalised group and exploring contemporary issues in equity of opportunity which result in disparate achievement. In this I have investigated feminist theory in relation to gender and sexuality diversity, by exploring how policy and power impact equity in education and proposed solutions to narrow the achievement gaps.
